Carving for Kids a Big Success!
The brothers of SIgma Chi put on a philanthropy event in their backyard on the night of wednesday October 28,2009 to benefit the kids of the Children's Miracle Network in Sacramento. Starting around 6PM, students and greeks campus wide began shiowing up at the house to claim their pumpkins. The event provided each attendee with either one large pumpkin to carve into a jack-o-lantern, or two small pumpkins to sharpie or carve. Voices, laughter, and music filled the air as the event went on for 3 and a half hours, from the carving to the dancing to the feasting....pumpkin pie, roasted pumpkin seeds, dozens of cookies, hot apple cider, hot cocoa....and pumpkin carving fun inside. The backyard filled up with carved pumpkins - including pirate ships, funny faces, classic designs, and the giant Carving For Kids jack-o-lantern. At the end of the night, attendance brought in over $800 dollars and every penny was then donated to the Children's Miracle Network. What a way to celebrate some of the most fun activities and past times of Halloween in our Davis backyard while doing a great service to the CMN who deserves so much for their cause.
